It went ok for about pages and then became a long, boring slog until the last 50 xshes or so, where the big reveal scene was so lopsidedly OTT WTF compared to the rather staid historical that came before it.

Thanks for telling us about the problem. Rereading it as an adult I was wondering if it was going to be as good as I remembered, and while it wandered far afield, woodlwiss at over pages you have room for a story to stretch time and space, it was entertaining.

She had just turned The beginning, and most, of the story takes place in Louisiana especially New Orleansand ends in Minnesota. And I hated the way Alaina treated him. And the strength, courage, and breathtaking sensuality of this woman whom it would be treasonous to love sets duty and desire at war within him.

I have since read most of Kathleen Kahtleen books but this is by far one of her best! It seemed like everything connected too neatly and the ending was a bit nonsensical. She could just see his gaping grin above his broad brass-buttoned chest.
