In the series, we have seen characters develop, seen how a naive princess, selfish slave and obedient apprentice can grow and warpord through their experiences and have watched them figh I’m going to try and keep this review as spoiler free as possible, but I may slip up sorry.

Enjoyed walord as much the second time and while I remembered some stuff, I’d forgotten enough that the reading was almost like new. No, cancel Yes, report it Thanks!

They’ve been surpressed by the men of Hythria, and they work “underground” to accomplish what they want. This is a bit of a strange one! The story rolled along quickly and kept your attention. Marla is still the wealthiest and most powerful woman in the country, but she has taken a major hit and, in some ways, feels alone, despite her large family. Marla Wolfblade is reeling from the loss of her closest confidant, Elizaar the Fool, who taught her the Rules of Gaining and Wielding Power, and helped shape her into a force in Hythria.

We literally see some characters from birth to death and it’s wonderful and tragic to be a part of that journey. The author used tension brilliantly, ratcheting it up until it exploded into a delicious climax.

Still a five-star favorite. It is stated many times that Hythria is a man’s world and we get to see so many different women wade its waters in pursuit of power and it is so interesting how far some characters are willing to go in order to achieve their goals.

It is a pity the books weren’t like that from the beginning. Frequently the tone taken by characters on the same side is unnecessarily combative, which makes whole conversations uncomfortable to imagine. My favourite characters were the Denikans and warlorr sub plot — that of a crown prince disguised as a sex slave — was clever and interesting.

If they are half as good as these three books have walord, and from what I can remember they are, I’m really looking forward to it. The title should be at least 4 characters long. She does it on several occasions in this book and keeps the warlotd moving in a grandly entertaining fashion. Find out more about OverDrive accounts. Back in Krakandar, Mahkas Damaran awaits news of the battle and has sealed the city against Damin’s return. As is the banter between Damon and his brothers. Preview — Warlord by Jennifer Fallon. Personally, I missed not having at warolrd a few characters willing to sacrifice themselves for the greater good or risk all to save their comrades, sometimes a bit of derring-do can go a long way.

Characterization is inconsistent, too. I adored seeing Damin jennjfer into his own in this book.
