I liked the book, but it is not my favorite Allende novel. Goodreads helps you keep track of books you want to read. Aug 10, Carrie rated it liked it Shelves: This is the one book of hers I haven’t tried reading because I thought it was just a cookbook.

Even though I have forgotten her I continue to eat plum after plum. Born in Peru and raised in Chile, she lives in California. Telling stories, playing verbal games and flirting with words like shuttlecocks, these are the real turn-on for Allende.

This is a very seductive book. Non aveva parlato di cervella di ogni genere di animale, mammiferi in particolare – uomo incluso – con descrizioni truculente? A Memoir of the Senses Author s: An ode to sensuality that is an irresistible blend of memory, imagination and the senses, Aphrodite is familiar territory for readers who know her fiction.

Isabel Allende – Aphrodite

Isabell Allende is my favorite writer. Ad ogni modo, questi piatti sono pesanti e con lo stomaco sazio e in piena digestione sono in pochi a poter vantare prodezze amatorie. References to this book A Woman’s Passion for Travel: Yeah, not so mcuh with this. I haven’t gone through all the ahrodite yet, but there’s some I want Isabell Allende is my favorite writer.

It’s actually a really good essay on what are aphrodisiacs, and how they are viewed in different times, and even in different cultures. By the time I got through This was a strange book. Read this book and its poetery, short stories, anecdotes, legends, and yes, recipes, and you may come to agree, even if you’re not a foodie or an honest pig.

I enjoyed the recipes, some stories but the rest of the short stories and tales were horrific to me and quite sexual. Jul 19, Casey rated it did not like it Recommends it for: Allende’s “erotic meanderings” give pleasure.

Aphrodite: A Memoir of the Senses

Isabel Allende Llona is a Chilean-American novelist. There was a problem adding your email address. She aims to amuse, to titillate, and to entertain us with the lore of food and sex, a few choice morsels from her aphrodiite experience and fantasy life, and occasionally to advise aspiring seducers and seductresses. She is never crude or exhibitionistic, and she does not seek to shock her gentle readers.

Jan 23, Joana Augusto rated it it was amazing Shelves: I did love Allende’s sauciness and odd split personality–very accepting of people’s oddities on one hand, and slyly judgmental on the other hand. Sep 26, Shaimaa Ali rated it really liked it.

Ma non aveva parlato poco prima del grande potere afrodisiaco di mammelle di vacca, vulve di pecora e palle di toro?

That is the only word I can think of to describe this novel. As a combintion of cook book, food history book, and dictionary of adphrodisiacs; this book serves as a very informative and useful tool in many areas of our lives if you catch my drift.
