While Functional Hudttel Resonance Imaging does not qualify its reader as capable of designing and executing groundbreaking experimentation with fMRI, it was not written for that purpose. The author’s goal was to create a book that is sufficiently scientifically rigorous for scientists in the field, but also accessible enough to be easily read and understood by beginning students.
It lays the requisite groundwork for further study and gives the student a baseline familiarity with all of the terms and subjects likely to be necessary for a deeper understanding of fMRI. Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging was the first textbook to provide a true introduction to fMRI–one that presented material authoritatively and comprehensively, yet was accessible to undergraduate students, graduate students, and beginning researchers.
