Dat neemt niet weg dat Pietro oog heeft voor lieflijke details. Veronesi handsomely depicts the “little life”, the messy, yes, chaotic way of living of most people, xaos who are capable of great, exalted clmo, and at the same time cherish backward thoughts and do vile things; in this book we see how Pietro gradually seems to cope with this, also in his own life. Oh and the last chapters are so good that they almost make up for the rest of the book.
